Things to do in the Lake District in February

Enjoy a day at the races in Carlisle
When it comes to things to do in February in the Lake District, then it’s a busy time of year at Carlisle Racecourse. Just on the outskirts of the Lake District, there are 3 big dates on the horseracing calendar.
The 3rd of February, in particular, is also known as “Fabulous February”, with big prize money up for grabs for the winning jockeys. Likewise during the “Winter Warmer” on 17th February and a full day of racing the following weekend.
Plan your wedding in the Lake District
There are other annual events elsewhere in the Lake District too, with the ever-popular Lake District Wedding Fair. It takes place on the 22nd and 23rd February, bringing together local and national businesses at the Rural Auction Centre in Crooklands.
Expect to find everything you need for planning your big day, from dressmakers and flower arrangers to the caterers, photographers and DJ’s.

Another of the big annual events in the Lake District is that of the Keswick Film Festival. This year the festival celebrates its 21st birthday and runs from 27th February to 1st March.
The film festival also features the Osprey Short Film Awards, which showcases up and coming, local actors/directors.
However, the annual event has world-wide success, with a programme of events that often includes special guest speakers. Many of whom are well-known within the movie world.
