Visiting Windermere in June

Visiting Windermere in June, 2018

It’s hard to believe we’re already coming to the end of May! So if you’re visiting Windermere in June, then it’s time to start making plans.

Guided Walks and Country Bike Rides

The sun has already been shining this year, with the beautiful Lake District scenery looking as wonderful as ever. When you’re staying near Lake Windermere, a short walk down to the water will get you in the mood for the rest of your June Holiday.

If you like to explore a little further, then take a guided walk of the fells. So bring your hiking shoes ready for a 10-mile walk with the Lake District Walker. Alternatively, you can find plenty of self-guided walks online.

Then there’s the chance to venture cross country. In which case hire a bike and go for a ride through along the Lakes and beyond.

Where is Peter Rabbit?

You may be staying in a Windermere Boutique Spa Suite to get away from the children, but it doesn’t mean you’re not a kid at heart. The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness-on-Windermere launches it’s own musical this summer. You can get to see the show ahead of the school holidays, as it will be less quiet.

If you want to read up on Peter Rabbit first, then pack a copy of the book, ready to read as you chill out in your hot tub. After all, there’s a reason you’ve chosen Windermere this June!

Marathon and Half Marathon in Coniston

Those of you who are a little more energetic may already be registered for the Marathon in Coniston. If not, then it will make a great day out in the Lake District as a spectator. Find your spot along the Lakes and if the weather’s nice, pack a picnic ready to watch the excitement.

Both races are part of the Lakeland Trails, and most likely the highlight of the racing season. If you are taking part, then you’ll certainly be needing some pampering back at your spa suite in Windermere afterwards.

Visit the Cumberland Agricultural Show

Country shows are something of a British tradition and they don’t come much bigger than the Cumberland Show. The Lake District attracts tourists all year round, but this is something special for those visiting Windermere in June. It’s only a short drive away, but this is a great way to meet some of the locals.

Although the Lake District has only recently been recognised as a World Heritage Site, it’s qualifications as such are unprecedented. After all, the landscape has been home to farmers and livestock for 1000’s of years.

Enjoy a ride with Windermere Lake Cruises

You can, of course, take to the lakes any time, but Windermere in June is something special. It’s just outside the tourist season, but with the weather picking up and with those lighter evenings, the views are magical.

If you’re away on a romantic spa break, then an evening Cruise is just thing you need. After all, what better way to watch the sun go down than a boat ride with the one you love?
